Phage Laboratory Workshop:  Measuring Impacts

November 15, 2017
It has been 3 months since our East Africa Phage Workshop, so we've gathered the first quarterly impact data – and it's impressive!

Since July the workshop participants have:

  • Initiated 5 new phage projects

  • Incorporated phage biology into teaching curricula at 4 institutions

  • Submitted 2 grants to fund phage research

Congratulations to all involved – this was successful beyond our expectations!

Thank you for your support that helped make this workshop a reality. Last December we raised $20,000 through the GlobalGiving website, then a private donor offered $10,000 to use for any project as needed – and we were able to leverage all of that to garner the remaining support from the Conservation, Food & Health Foundation, as well as from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

We are now preparing to hold 2 workshops in Africa in 2018: 1 each in East and West Africa.

We know these workshops will yield

even more amazing impacts!

In the coming weeks we will share more details – stay tuned!
